Singapore: Shares open lower on Thursday after mixed earnings in US

SINGAPORE[SGX] share prices opened lower on Thursday with the Straits Times Index down 3.88 points to 3,436.95 at 9am, following mixed corporate earnings in the United States and a second day of congressional testimony from Fed chair Janet Yellen.


In all, some 54.6 million shares worth S$69.3 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 66 to 63.
Among the exchange's most active stocks was Genting Singapore, which broke its S$1 resistance on Wednesday after a disappointing set of Q4 results. Some 5.6 million Genting shares changed hands in early trading, while the stock price stayed flat at S$0.98.
Meanwhile, Noble has come under a second attack by little-known short-seller Iceberg Research on Thursday, and halted trading.

SINGAPORE share prices closed higher on Tuesday with the STI up 16.31 points to 3,437.61.
Volume was 1.07 billion shares worth S$1.25 billion.
Gainers outnumbered losers 226 to 194.

SINGAPORE[SGX] share prices closed lower on Monday with the Straits Times Index down 14.36 points to 3,421.30.
Volume was 1.07 billion shares worth S$1.28 billion.
Gainers outnumbered losers 224 to 214.

Singapore Shares open higher on Monday


SINGAPORE[SGX] share prices opened higher on Monday with the Straits Times Index up 16.94 points to 3,452.60.
Volume was 48.2 million shares worth S$111.5 million.
Gainers outnumbered losers 104 to 45.
